Chasing Rabbits

More than anything, my dog, Jack, loves to chase rabbits.  Every time he finds one he takes off after it at top speed.  He will get close and almost have it.  Then the rabbit will run off into the tall grass and make a sharp turn.  The dog will have no clue where the rabbit went when it disappeared.  To us it is very easy to see where the rabbit went, but the dog has no clue.  He’ll run back and forth trying to find the rabbit again, but it is long gone.  God programmed dogs to long for catching rabbits.  And He gave rabbits an automatic strategy to elude dogs.

Many of us are pursuing things in this world that we think will bring happiness.  When we finally think we have it within our grasp it eludes us.  It wasn’t as satisfying as we thought it would be.  We run around looking, but can’t find the peace and satisfaction that we crave.

Psalm 90:14 says, “Satisfy us in the morning with your steadfast love, that we may rejoice and be glad all our days.”

God can give you the satisfaction that you crave.  Few things in this life are steadfast.  So many things are fleeting.  You can’t count on them.  But you can always count on God to love you.  He won’t try to trick you by changing direction.  No, He is steadfast, He never changes.  You can find His love expressed as you read the Bible.   God is faithful to His promises.  It gives us great joy.  The gladness that comes from knowing God will last for the rest of our lives.  God programmed the human heart to long for the Creator.   Search for Him with all of your heart.

Jeremiah 29:13  You will seek me and find me, when you seek me with all your heart.
